Review: BECCA Mineral Blush in Damselfly
A little heads up, you will be seeing more BECCA products popping up on my blog during the following weeks seeing as Hautelook recently had a sale on BECCA products (40-70% off!!!!). I’m very happy I was able to get more products from BECCA because they are great quality. The product I want to show you today is their Mineral Blush in Damselfly ($32). I previously reviewed the shade Wild Honey and even included it in my Best of 2013 list.
Damselfly is a gorgeous pink-y peach with a satin/shimmer finish. I’ve swatched it next to NARS Orgasm and theBalm Hot Mama below. You can see that in comparison, Damselfly is not nearly as glittery as Orgasm and less pink than the other two. The formula is exactly the same as Wild Honey‘s so I’ll just reiterate what I said in my first review… The texture of the BECCA Mineral Blushes is incredibly soft. It’s almost crumbly so you will get excess powder when you swirl your brush in them. They have great pigmentation and are easy to blend. The shimmer in them is so refined that it gives your cheeks a glowing look rather and a glittery one (the way NARS Orgasm does, for example). The pigmentation is excellent.
I’m in love with Damselfly because it’s such a pretty color and has a low level of shimmer. It’s the type of shimmer a matte-lover can easily wear. I also really enjoy BECCA‘s UFO/flying saucer packaging. So, why do these a whopping cost $32? Honestly, I don’t know. The plus side is they don’t contain parabens, dyes, alcohol, talc, oil or fragrance. They also have vitamin A, C, and E. They’re great quality so I’m happy to pay that price (although I’d be even happier if they were cheaper). I highly recommend waiting for them to go on sale at Hautelook or other retailers. You can also use those 20% off codes most sites give throughout the year. With high-end makeup you rarely have to pay full retail price. Unless it’s MAC… because they don’t believe in discounts apparently.
