Review: MAC Film Noir Lipstick
Here’s a lipstick which I’m sure won’t suit most people’s taste. Whenever dark or vampy lipstick shades from MAC come up on blogs, Film Noir ($16) isn’t usually among them. I do understand why. It’s a very dark color and it leans more towards brown, as opposed to the typical purple or red undertone. I purchased it for that particular reason. When I was doing a roundup post on my dark lipsticks, I noticed a lot where looking
exactly the same too similar on the lips.
I had a great experience with Film Noir and I think the formula is lovely! If you love dark lips then you need Film Noir in your collection. MAC labels its finish as satin. I honestly cannot tell the difference between this satin and a regular cream finish. Just know that it is neither glossy nor matte. The formula is very soft, it glides effortlessly without tugging and doesn’t accentuate dryness. It’s pigmented, wears well, and applies easily. Most importantly, it doesn’t go on patchy (which is a somewhat common downfall of very dark lipsticks).
Again, if you’re not afraid of dark lips, I suggest you get this! The brown undertone might make it a bit tricky for certain skin tones, but I think it’s what makes it stand out from the rest. It’s a great color for this fall/winter season. Let me know what you think below.
