Review: Maybelline Baby Lips
Pink Punch (left) and Grape Vine (right)
I posted about these in my last haul and my post on products I was excited about. After trying them for some time I can say I love Baby Lips and I totally get the hype. However, Grape Vine was definitely a disappointment. Let me go over the formula quickly:
- The texture is very buttery. Not like a lip gloss at all. Definitely like balm.
- They’re more moisturizing than Revlon Lip Butters. To me the Revlon LB didn’t replace a balm, these do.
- They look gorgeous on the lips. Shiny but not overly so, perfect for everyday.
- They have a yummy fruity scent. Grape Vine smells like grape and Pink Punch like something I can’t decipher (I have a terrible nose).
Now I have to mention that I do like Pink Punch but I don’t like Grape Vine. The reason is that Grape Vine is basically clear. It doesn’t show up on the lips or on swatches even when layered heavily. I know these are meant to be sheer, but there is a clear Baby Lip, so I expect the colored ones to have, well, color.
PINK PUNCH: Subtle hint of a light blue toned pink. Super gorgeous and wearable, even on my warm skin tone.
GRAPE VINE: Doesn’t show up at all on my lips. Barely no color. I hoped it would be a wearable purple or give my lips a hint of color. My lips look exactly the same but with shine, even when I slather this on.
Overall, I love them! I would say skip Grape Vine, you might as well get the clear one. Unless you want it for the grape scent. I want more of these! They’re from the drugstore so you can get them discounted or buy one get one. Also, the packaging is adorable!
Have you tried any of them? Which one is your favorite?
