Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams
I’ve sun praises about the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams ($5.99) before. I’ve reviewed the colors Istanbul and Addis Ababa individually and have worn them in some makeup looks. Since I really liked the formula and thought the price point was great, I went ahead and got some more colors. The ones I’ll be showing you today are Antwerp, Morocco, Copenhagen, and Transylvania.
The initial batch of Soft Matte Lip Creams included gorgeous colors, but most were really same-y (nudes and pinks). Luckily, NYX released more colors in the line including a lot of gorgeous deep vampy shades. Although there are a bit of discrepancies sometimes, in general the formula for the Soft Matte Lip Creams:
+ is pigmented but needs 2 layers to look its best
+ has a very comfortable non-drying matte finish
+ is fairly long wearing but not as transfer resistant as other liquid lipsticks
+ wears off flatteringly and doesn’t crack or flake
+ feels a bit more powdery in comparison to runnier or “wetter” liquid lipsticks
If you love mattes and enjoy liquid lipsticks, I suggest you grab a few. At this price point, I can’t recommend them enough. However, I found that with the darker shades Copenhagen and Transylvania you need to work the formula into the lips and use about 2-3 good layers or else it will look uneven. They are not as easy to work with as all the rest.
Do you love the Soft Matte Lip Creams too? Which color is your favorite out of these? Happy Friday!
