Review: Sleek Lipstick in Peaches & Cream
Sleek True Colour Lipstick in “Peaches & Cream”
I got this lipstick months ago because I was (am?) on the search for the perfect peach/apricot lipstick. I thought this would be it. I hated it at first because the formula is unflattering. It highlights all your lip imperfection and dry flakes. After a while I picked it up again because I really wanted to use it and made it work. Now I really love this lipstick! It’s not an effortless lipstick, I have to work for it to look good. I shouldn’t have to go through extra effort to make a lipstick work since there are many flawless formulas out there, but at least it does work and when it does it’s beautiful.
Left to Right: Bobbi Brown “Soft Coral”, NARS “Casablanca”, Sleek “Peaches & Cream”, Revlon “Tutti Frutti” Lip Butter
In summary,
- The formula is difficult to work with. It highlights lip imperfections.
- I always have to use a lip scrub and then a lip balm before using this.
- I won’t fault the lipstick much because I love Sleek and this color is very hard to get right.
- The shade is a gorgeous peach/apricot. It’s very opaque and milky!
- It can be difficult to wear because it’s so light and opaque. If my skin was any more tan (like in the summer) I don’t think I’d be able to wear this.
- I love the tube, it’s short and chubby.
Overall, I give this a B. Beautiful color, pick it up if you’re into peachy shades (clearly I am, I have very similar orange lipsticks). I can’t give it an A because it accentuates dryness and needs prior exfoliation. I do love it because I haven’t come across another peach lipstick that is this opaque. My lips are brown toned so shades like this turn orange or maroon if they’re sheer.

18th Nov 2012 - 1:50 amFormulas like this always frustrate me. You get these beautiful opaque lighter colours but my lips look like a flaky hot mess with them on. Even if I use a lip scrub sometimes it just doesn't work out well on me π

18th Nov 2012 - 1:54 amI quite like this color! I don't own a matte apricot shade yet. It seems very similar in color to Revlon LB in Tutti Frutti, which I quite like.

18th Nov 2012 - 6:09 amThis shade is so gorgeous. It looks really good with your skin color, too bad it dries.. It happens the same with topshop lippies π

18th Nov 2012 - 9:30 amI love the colour of this lipstick, but I think I'm too tanned to wear it! Oh and I hate drying lipsticks! Luckily there is lip balm and lip scrubs available! π

18th Nov 2012 - 6:45 pmI had to laugh at the comment your boyfriend made. I usually don't have much luck with lipsticks that look milky. They always settles in lip lines and make dry lips look even more obvious. This is a pretty color though and I'm glad that you were able to make it work for you. I've always wanted to try Sleek makeup but never got around to it.

19th Nov 2012 - 6:39 pmI have the Barry M lipstick in Peach and I was so amazed at how bright and crazy it looked when slicked on flat. I've found that blending a little of the colour with a translucent peach gloss really works for me π might be worth a try x

21st Nov 2012 - 6:39 amOoh I love that colour! NOT that I need another peachy shade as I have plenty of them but that's not stopping me from adding it to my wish list! π
