Review: theBalm Down Boy Blush
Hello, beauties! Today I’m reviewing a blush I featured in a Spring Makeup Haul ages ago! It was actually a repurchase because my original Down Boy Blush broke 🙁 I really recommend theBalm’s blushes and eyeshadows because they have great texture and pigmentation. The price range is on the high-end side, but they go on sale often at several retailers. They’re sometimes on Hautelook too. I recommend having a wishlist of the products you want to try and waiting for a sale.
Down Boy is a light bubblegum pink. I’ve always been inclined to call Down Boy a cool toned pink because whenever I compare it to my neutral and yellow-based pinks, it looks considerably cool. It’s somewhat similar to MAC’s Pink Swoon (Down Boy is darker). To me it’s the perfect “dolly” pink.
Down Boy is buttery soft to the touch and easy to blend. It’s powdery and kicks up excess when you swirl your brush in it. Although it can be a hassle, it’s not a mayor con for me. I’ve gotten used to gently tapping my brush when using this. I can put up with powdery-ness but am less forgiving with fading and dry/patchy textures (which this thankfully does not have).
Down Boy doesn’t cling to my cheeks or go on patchy. I think the formula is great. It doesn’t last amazingly long on me but that could be because it’s a light color. My first blush broke because I accidentally dented it. Since it’s so soft, it started to crumble over time (with usage and traveling). That’s just something to keep in mind.
Overall, I really love this blush! It’s a light, baby dollish pink, but I still feel like I can pull it off with my medium warm skintone. The fact that I repurchased it is a testament of my love for it. 🙂
