Shimmer Polish Review and Swatches
I was contacted by Linda from Shimmer Polishes in order to try out some of her glitter nail polishes which she sells on Etsy (thanks to Gemma for referring her to me!) I’ve professed my love for Etsy before (see this post) because it has amazing homemade finds. Etsy is also known for being the perfect place to get unique glitter polish that you won’t find anywhere else. And most sellers ship worldwide. Shimmer Polishes offers an amazing selection of glitters and shimmers. There’s a ton of colors to choose from which are perfect as top coats, for nail designs, for an accent nail, etc.
Shimmer Polishes are named after the creator’s friends and family. If you’re looking for something specific but don’t find it, you can also request a customized polish. The colors I have are: Astrid, Jacki, Airriann, Cindy, Erica, Jasmine, Jennifer, and Katherine. Jasmine is what I would call the perfect mermaid glitter. Jacki is amazing and the glitter in it is very multidimensional which is why I had to photograph the bottle alone. Katherine is a great bronze/gold glitter which just screams New Year’s to me. My favorite is Astrid which consists of a mix of predominantly lilac glitters.
In general the formula for the Shimmers with a clear base is thick but not goopy. This is what helps the glitter suspend and not sink into the color that you put underneath. The smaller Shimmers (like Katherine, Jacki, and Cindy) are opaque in 2 coats. As always with glitter polishes, if you feel like the finish is too gritty for you be sure to finish them off with a clear top coat. I really loved the Shimmer Polishes and I’ve had so much fun trying out different manicures.
Have you ever gotten any indie nail polishes from Etsy? Let me know! Happy Monday!
