Depending on where you’re located winter may be over or in full swing. I was on holiday a little while ago so I experienced both chilling cold and scolding heat in the time span of a few days. I found myself preferring muted nude blushes for cold weather because they counteracted the redness in my cheeks that resulted from bitter winds. Still, there are few “unexpected” choices like NARS’s bright Mata Hari blush because winter shouldn’t be synonymous to void of color.

As you can see there are a lot of nude colors but they’re all different, I swear! First up is the Hard Candy Fox in a Box in Smooth Talker ($4). I have a full review of this blush here. It’s the lightest of the bunch but has four squares of different earth toned shades which means you can customize the color to your liking. Next is a classic, NARS Douceur ($30) recurrently pops up on bloggers’ natural blushes lists. It has a matte finish and gives your cheeks a subtle healthy look. The third color is the wild card, NARS Mata Hari ($30). NARS describes it as a rose petal pink. To me, it’s a cool-toned mauve pink. I wasn’t a fan of this at first, but the color grew on me. It’s also one of the longest lasting blushes I own. Next up is the MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul ($25). I have raved about this blush before (see a full review here) because it has a luxurious texture and subtle shimmer. It’s like a glowy version of Douceur. Now for the cream blushes. My first pick is Butter London Honey Pie ($20), a light pink-y peach. This color is light and subtle but it still brightens up your complexion. My other choice is the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Rose ($26). This is one of my most unique colors. It doesn’t show up overly red, pink or brown. It’s great on darker complexions. You can see it in action here.
In case you’re wondering, the reason Bobbi Brown Rose is all scraped up is because I transferred half of it onto a blush palette. Let me know what colors you prefer to wear during the winter.
P.S. I’m planning a 3,000 reader giveaway where one of the prizes will be an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush. Please vote in this poll to help me decide which blush to give away. I would really appreciate it! 🙂
